Federation supports families & youth with array of social services and programs

The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey supports families by providing services that enrich both the mind and body through comprehensive social services and recreational, cultural, and educational programming.

Meet Bethany:

Bethany came to the Jewish Federation a few years ago for help. She was in the process of getting divorced and in financial despair. Our Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) agency was able to provide services to her from the Rhona Fischer Family Assistance Program. Since then, Bethany has obtained donated food and personal items from the food pantry, received holiday gifts and scrip collected by the community, and enjoyed holiday meals prepared by local houses of worship. Bethany now feels safe and secure knowing she has somewhere to turn when her family is in need.

Bethany’s story is just one way our Federation system helps families in need. Through our Family & Youth area of impact, we offer a wide range of programs and services. PJ Library sends 1,100 Jewish books each month to area children to help them learn about Jewish values and traditions. Another program is Building Healthy Relationships through our JFCS agency, where more than 3,000 students participate in educational workshops about dating violence. And, 332 children participated in our Junior Maccabi Youth Basketball program through the Katz Jewish Community Center, gaining skills development, fun, and friendship through this recreational league.

This is just a glimpse at how the Jewish Federation family makes an impact on family and youth in our community. Learn more at jewishsouthjersey.org/family-youth.
